The Afghan Hound is a dog who considers himself the equal of his owner. He’s smart enough to stay one step ahead when faced with training and the demands of a household. A sly clown and a quick learner, he should be trained with a soft hand. Training must be his idea, as he learns fast and becomes bored just as quickly. Short, happy sessions are the answer. This is a dog who can open doors by turning the knobs, can open the latches on fences, and can get himself into refrigerators and drawers. He is not one who can be left to his own devices. He will create his own fun, often to your disadvantage.
